One of my recent hobbies and interests is space history, and last year, I came across an amazing book, In the Shadows of the Moon. The author, Francis French, just forwarded me this fantastic review of the book:

I’m not a football fan, but sharp-eyed viewers would have noticed a pair of storm troopers in a trailer for the upcoming film, Race to Witch Mountain. Take a look here:

I’ve been neglecting this blog for a week or so – things have been very busy lately, but I’ll get back with regular updates soon.
Brian Harnois was interviewed on the official Star Wars site, where this passage comes up:
Where did your nickname Darth Wheezy come from?
I got the nickname Wheezy from working on the show Ghost Hunters. But I am very much into the dark side on the Star Wars universe, and what better name to go by than Darth? I have been using that name on all the things I do now in the Star Wars realm. I am also a member of the New England Garrison and an honorary member of a few more garrisons around the country. I originally joined up way back in 2001 when I had a fully-detailed suit of Boba Fett armor. I don’t have that armor (unfortunately) anymore, but this is where the funny story comes into play. I was at DragonCon some years ago, and ran into a bunch of the 501st Legion. They said that they had a running bet that the Brian Harnois that is on the NEG roster was the same Brian Harnois that is on the show Ghost Hunters. Well, as you know, they won the bet, and I have become very good friends with a lot of the members of the 501st and have been to a few conventions and charity events with them. I hope someday soon to be able to get a Darth Vader suit or stormtrooper armor so I can get back to doing things with them as a member of the 501st and not just Ghost Hunters.

This coming weekend, I’ll be walking with the 501st New England Garrison as a storm trooper at a Walk for Autism in Nashua, NH, to raise money for awareness and research for the condition.
I can’t say that I have any major attachment to the disorder, nor have I come into any real contact with anyone who’s had it, but I figure that this is a way in which I can help a cause that affects many around the nation and world. If anyone would like to support a storm trooper (!) my team page is here: http://www.walknowforautism.org/c.nsKSL1POLvF/b.3622293/siteapps/personalpage/ShowPage.aspx?c=nsKSL1POLvF&b=3622235&sid=bqLMIXNDKiISKYPCItH
I promise that I’ll send out pictures after the event. It should be a fun time, for a worthy cause.
This is pretty cool. Go to http://google.com/maps, and plug in the following address:
6860 Hollywood Blvd Los Angeles
Go to the street view, and turn the camera 360 degrees. Go up the street to the left and you’ll see a couple more.
Seeing that I’ve updated my armor with a new helmet and handplates, and really disliking my old profile picture for the legion, I requested an update. Thanks to Ang for getting the new images up and doing a KICKASS job with them:

Okay, bucket off shot, it’s decent, but it’s lightyears better than my old one.
He’s not a 501st member, but certainly recognizable:

This was pretty cool: the 501st UK Garrison trooped a concert with the band Ash, at a special concert for their album 1977.
The troopers were on stage before the concert and for sections during the show. I’ve never heard of the band, but apparently, they performed on the Republic Commando soundtrack, which is how we ended up on their radar.
Here’s some video of them in action:
